Hawai’i Interim Housing Program
The State of Hawai’i supports Maui wildfire survivors. This support focuses on interim housing solutions during the post-fire period of recovery and rebuilding.
Program Status
The Hawai‘i Interim Housing Program (HIHP) is no longer accepting applications, with exceptions for late applicants who can demonstrate they were unable to meet the original application closure date of December 15, 2024, due to circumstances beyond their control.

Note for FEMA Eligible Households:
Do not leave a FEMA housing solution to try to receive HIHP assistance. Leaving a FEMA housing solution will not make you eligible for HIHP.

The Hawai‘i Interim Housing Program (HIHP) is no longer accepting applications, with exceptions for late applicants who can demonstrate they were unable to meet the original application closure date of December 15, 2024, due to circumstances beyond their control.
There is limited availability for HIHP housing units. HIHP is for survivors who are not eligible for other forms of disaster housing assistance, including FEMA housing benefits. Refer to the FAQs for more information.
Disaster Case Management Program (DCMP) Requirement: To be eligible for and participate in HIHP, applicants are required to sign up for and remain active in the DCMP. Contact the DCMP at 211 or 808-275-2000.
Upcoming Office Closure: HIHP will be closed for Prince Jonah Kūhiō Kalanianaʻole Day on Wednesday, March 26, 2025.
Late Application: Late applications can be requested through March 17, 2025. To make a request for a late application, call the HIHP Contact Center at 808-727-1550. A late application does not guarantee placement in a HIHP unit.
